zeitraumexit
zeitraumexit was founded in 2000 in Mannheim as a non-profit organization. Our repertoire encompasses performing arts including dance, theatre, and performance, as well as fine arts. Exchange between the different art forms has been the main focus of the work of the artistic directors Gebriele Oßwald, Wolfgang Sautermeister, and Tilo Schwarz. The venue presents contemporary art in interdisciplinary projects which consciously defy classification in any predefined genre. On the one hand zeitraumexit provides an environment in which newcomers can venture first steps into the art world; on the other hand we welcome international guest performances regularly in our venues.
Performing arts – live art
Solo – Performance night
in spring, we devote an entire night to performance art. Solo pieces by three different performers provide an insight into his or her personal work and into new developments in this art form.
frisch eingetroffen [just in] – stage for young performing artists
each summer, zeitraumexit invites young artist to present their work. Staged concerts, theatrical or dance performances: this is an opportunity for our audience to get to know young talents at the beginning of their professional career.
Wunder der Prärie [wonders of the prairie]– Dance, Theatre, Performance, Art
This festival is the highlight of our annual program. Themed differently each year, in September zeitraumexit presents experimental art projects. Parts of the festival are events in our premises in the Kauffmannsmühle, in venues provided by our co-operating partners, in Mannheim’s urban landscape as well as a themed exhibition.
Fine arts
At the end of the year, zeitraumexit presents an exhibition of contemporary drawings, paintings, photography, video art, and installation. In November 2009, we started with “Güncel sanat”: contemporary art by Turkish artists from Istanbul and Berlin.
Apart from these fixed dates zeitraumexit devises a diversified program in which showcasing student projects, providing a venue for video artists, co-productions, guest performances as well as open formats are all equally important. Lectures and talks complete our profile.
Guests
zeitraumexit doesn’t claim exclusive rights on every important development in the art world. That’s why we are open to other initiatives and groups, whose ideas and impulses fit into the profile of zeitraumexit or, even better, enrich it.
Internationally renowned artists have presented their words at zeitraumexit, for example the dancer Anna Huber, the “expert for experiences” Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll), the British-German group Gob Squad, the Korean performance artist Hong O Bong, Alastair Mc Lennan from Dublin, the voice and language artist Jaap Blonk from the Netherlands, the writer Yoko Tawada, the performance group Stan’s Café from Birmingham or the frensh theatre group Théatre du Radeau from Le Mans, Daniel Askill (Australia), the flip-book-specialist Volker Gerling, Johan Grimonprez from Belgium or Jeffery Byrd, USA.
